Dominated by the Venar Woods, the province of Venar is rich in lumber, supplying much of the wood and wood products for surrounding provinces. Venar is also the pathway to the Bloodlands and the East, and as such, is heavily fortified.

  Towns and Cities

"Derys" -Derys, located in the eastern part of the province, is an important military base, protecting the eastern approach to Tariana. The local inhabitants, both those in the military and those not, realize the importance, and Derys has been walled sturdily with stone quarried nearby. Dense woods surround Derys, giving an abundant supply of lumber. Mines to the south produce iron, which is often brought to Derys for smelting. Recently, an increasing interest in hunting as a sport in the rest of the Empire has made outfitters in Derys rich.

"Inac" -A small town resting on the Lythfljot, Inac provides supplies and accommodations to those traveling up or down the Austurvegur (East Road).

"Hinverril" -An important stopping point on the great road from the East to the pilgrimage sites of the Vrolinir Mountains, Hinverril still retains some of its quaint flavor despite the large number of travelers that pass through yearly. The walled town recalls its ancestry in the Well of Cendac, named after a valiant forester who led people from a raging fire to the spot where the town now stands, and directed them to dig the well and douse the trees, while he and others cut a firebreak. Cendac died in the conflagration, and the well dug at the time was named for him. One of the prime products of Hinverril is paper made from wood pulp. Buildings in Hinverril are mainly constructed of wood or stone. Frequently visited by tourists, the Temple of Sarith is constructed of granite from the mountains to the west, and boasts a circular dome, covered in gold leaf. Within, the altar is carved of wood, finely burnished. A wooden statue of Sarith, mother of all, stands high behind the altar. It is tradition for pilgrims to leave a small offering at the foot of this statue, so a small fence has been constructed to keep all the items in place. Hinverril is the seat of Venar.
