  Customs/Beliefs

It is a custom for Tarians to say a prayer to Vrol before working within the mines, and before eating meat. Every keg of mead is also blessed by Tarian clerics. To take part in the drinking of mead, one is proclaiming respect for Vrol.

  Current Issues

Currently, due to the recent conflicts there are a lot of tensions between Tarians and those in the eastern lands. Salandorf will fall if plans go accordingly. There are also people in Tariana, who choose to not follow Rhakzan, calling themselves Tarans. These heretics choose to distinguish themselves from the new order that Tariana represents.

  Mythology & Folklore

The great hero Korewyn, is said to have scaled the tallest mountain in the land, Mount Vrol, when it was infested with minions of the evil god, Seres. He slew the beasts, and thrust his sword into the ground atop the mountain, whence light shown down upon the blade. The summit of Mount Vrol has been the holiest site to the Tarians since that day, and Korewyn's Sword can still be seen thrust into the rock. A temple has been erected around the sword, and it is Tarian custom that every worshipper make a pilgrimage to the Temple of Vrol to make an offering.

  People

The Tarians are a people that enjoy the din of a pub, as well as the solitude that a mountain valley offers. A hearty people, they are skilled warriors, miners, and musicians.

Tarians take pride in the drinks they brew, ranging from mead and ale in the mountains, to wine and whiskey in the forests. Tarian Ale is sought after the world over.

Tarian daily life consists of mining, drinking at the pub, and worshipping their patron gods. Miners join a wagon team early in the morning and travel to the mines, where they work until sundown, then visit the pub with their friends for a merry time of drink and gossip. Before every meal they pray to their patron god, be it any god ranging from Tyrin to Jolkath, save for Sarith and Seres, who are matron/patron to all. Lumberjacks live the same life, travelling in a wagon with others to the worksite. Labor wagons are a common site throughout Tariana, as they are mandated by the Empire to keep traffic on the roads to a minimum, for easier flow of troops on the narrow mountain roads.

Tarian commoners are easy-going and relaxed. The Tarian upper-class is more rigid in their ideas toward religion and politics.

Military parades are common in Adokon, originating at the Ravenspire, the residence of Emperor Rahkzan, and ending in the docks district. A military presence is common on the causeways of Tariana as well, keeping the peace and protecting travellers, as well as assisting them if help is needed.

Tarians are always on the lookout for Dalmites and Salanians to report to the local military or militia for capture. Dalmites and Salanians, as of 3201 TS, are not allowed south of the River Lyth, as per edict from Rahkzan. Any found shall be captured and questioned, and then killed, with their bodies shipped back north of the river, so their flesh doesn't stain Tarian land.

Tarians enjoy holiday along the southern coast of Tariana, far from the trials and tribulations of the world to the north. They also enjoy vacationing in the Great Swamp, visiting Waerrn and watching the games there. Tarians despise intense sunlight, being creatures of dim days, blanketed by thick clouds, and frequent rain or snow. Few Tarians find it enjoyable to visit Sako's Footstep, and those that do are always seeking the shade.

As the saying goes, "If you have great ale, you are a friend of a Tarian."

Military parades are a common sight in Adokon, with a parade taking place once a month.
