The ultimate law in Tariana is known as the Pax Dicterum, set forth by Emperor Rahkzan. It is the basis of all law in the Tarian Empire. Most violations of the Pax Dicterum result in a death sentence.
Below the Pax Dicterum are the provincial laws, set forth by the Lords of each province. Provincial laws must be reasonable, according to the Empire, and must not confilct with the Pax Dicterum.
The Government of the Tarian Empire consists of one entity-Rahkzan and his advisors. Rahkzan lays down the law of the land, and his word is final. Rahkzan's advisors consist of the Scholar of the Empire, the Imperial Judicator, and the Lords of Tariana. This assembly is known as the Table of Wolves. Meetings of the Table of Wolves are held once a month, in a different city each time. The first meeting is held in Adokon, and thereafter in each provincial capital on a rotating basis.
The Tarian military is comprised of two forces, each with two branches. Hinn Vrolhamar, is the main military force of the Empire, and is responsible for fighting wars against other nations. The two branches of Hinn Vrolhamar are the Erlendur Corps and Innlendur Corps. The Imperial Judicator is the head of Hinn Vrolhamar.
The second force is known as the Crimson Legion, and their responsibility is the protection of the Emperor, as well as intelligence services.
Each province also possesses a local militia, trained and kept in check by the Hinn Vrolhamar.
The Clans of Tariana are many, and it would be impossible to list them all in this treatise. Each town in Tariana is named after the local Clan which controls it, save for Adokon, and the provincial capitals, which are towns of the Empire. Some important clans are listed below.
Clan Adokon - The founders of the greatest city in the land, Clan Adokon was the clan that started the Era of Blood. Lead by Tomaloth, a great warrior clan chief, Clan Adokon made war against its neighbors, only to have theland they conquered liberated by an alliance of three clans at the end of the Era of Blood.
Clan Hinverril-Clan of Explorers. Narix lived in Hinverril, and formed the first band of adventurers to conquer the Eastern Frontier. Hinverril was also a member of the Triune of Clans that defeated Clan Adokon at Blood Mire.
Clan Tynal-Clan Tynal rose to fame when they discovered the cure for the plague, shown them by a Drulon healer.
