The 12th Convocation of the Adellonic Churches was held in Dojelito in 3147 TS. That Convocation established the doctrines of the Church as it exists today.
The doctrine is known as "The Articles of Dojelito"
"Article 1" -
It is hereby ordained and decreed that Adell (or the One) is omnipotent and infallible. The words of our forefathers must be interpreted in his Light.
"Article 2" -
By virtue of Article 1 it is heresy for an Adell cleric to teach that other Gods exist. The pantheon of Gods we have acknowledged heretofore are but aspects of Adell. In particular to give credence to the rebellion of Lekmalior is to refute article 1. No God can exist that allows part of his creation to escape from his control. A God who would, or could, create a creature who can escape from his control is not a God. Once the individual existence of Lekmalior as a rebel is accepted then Adell can no longer be held to be omnipotent or infallible. Such a belief is heresy against our God and his Church.
"Article 3" -
The other "Gods" are therefore but aspects of holy Adell, envisaged to show man's natural state - both good and evil. Thus Dalimersh represents man's affinity with nature, Tlaren his industry, Jolos his ever-flowing humanity and Enna his creativity. Lekmalior shows the inherent evil in all, Gqetak our ultimate fate, Tholac, the heights of our pride and selfishness, Sako, the barren wastes of the godless and Niapterg our inner torment in the balancing of our existence. These aspects of evil are revealed in the vision of St Oreste “The Four Hells of Lekmailor”.
"Article 4" -
Only those who accept these three tenets may teach the words of God. It is not forbidden to pray to the other "Gods" in our pantheon or to establish temples in their name. But this may only be done in acknowledgment of Adell and under the discipline of his High Priest.
"Article 5" -
The soul of a new born child is guiltless. It is directly created by Adell for each birth and therefore cannot come into the world soiled by sin and under condemnation. Holy baptism acknowledges this and strengthens the child's soul in its resistance to evil. Accordingly no child may be brought into the world without his name having been sanctified by a priest.
"Article 6" -
No Salan child may enter into its inheritance without having been re-baptised by a priest acting under the authority of the High Priest of Adell. No child, born of a union unblessed by such a priest, may enter into its inheritance at all. Any priest demanding material reward for such a service shall suffer condemnation and be excommunicated.
"Article 7" -
Adell rarely touches our world. His purpose is unknowable, ineffable. Yet it is the duty of every adherent of the One to further His holy purpose as revealed to His Church. For whatever is done in the world, great or small, has significance in our God’s holy plan. Thus an adherent of Adell must strive to be devout, to do good works and to be true to the faith. Moreover we must protect the world our God created, doing it little harm and repairing the damage we might do. As is said in the work of holy Jestel, “A blade of grass crushed weakens the Light.”
"Article 8" -
In prayer we ask Adell to regulate our spirit, to protect us against the ungodly and to lead us into His Holy Light.
"Article 9" -
Thus without Adell’s will and presence we are able to fulfil His divine purpose if we are devout and strong in the faith; recognising always our own frailties and tendency towards sin. It is the duty of the Church to strengthen the faithful in this endeavour. To say otherwise is heresy as it argues that Adell does not remember the human frailties that he has created.
"Article 10" -
Within these confines Adell leaves us free to choose our destiny. He wishes, as part of His plan, for man not to act under compulsion but to be free to make his own decisions. His Church exists to guide, not compel, man to the Truth. Compulsion of men to the Truth is anathema as it denies the purpose of the God.
"Article 11" -
Death is a natural event, blessed by the God; for he created our souls to have a short span in which to contribute to the fulfilment of His purpose. If a soul has so contributed it is raised on high to be one with the God in his Light. If it has strived to obey the God’s laws it is returned to strive again to progress to a higher state. If it has existed in sin it is extinguished. Yet Adell is merciful. If the sinful truly repent, they too may be re-born.
"Article 12" -
The establishment of churches of other religions in lands that adhere to Adell is not forbidden. Our faith is strong and our cause just. Holy Adell does not need the repression of others to prevail. If our God is omnipotent and infallible what need he of mortal aid other than the prayers and righteous living of the faithful?
