Bordering the Great Sea of Storms, this glistening city is the resting place of the Great Surric. It was established in 2072 TS by the first Surric. Since then the Sakoian lands have grown into an empire controlled by the Descendants of the Great Surric. Considered as the most holy city in the whole Desert, the Western "Wellay" clan litters the streets and protects every inch of the sacred city.
The region consists only of the single city of Sakril which is a magnificent sight to behold. Marble and limestone buildings built with beautiful architecture and wonderful botanical gardens growing from every inch of this otherwise drab desert town. The Wonderfully dressed Wellay soldiers march up and down the streets in specially assigned armor which shimmers of gold and copper plating and usually decorated with gems of sorts. The great Surric rests upon the throne of power deep in his temple, never seen by the public traditionally save for special occasions.
City life
Within the city of Sakril, most anything is possible. Many traders work within the large open marketplace while blacksmiths and weapon smiths make a useful living creating equipment for the Military clans as well as the personal guards and mercenaries. Others make a living in the field of diplomacy or even thievery if one could avoid being caught and killed by the local Sarns.
No matter your profession there is always work in the great city. Festivals are held often and the people of the city are a generally happy and celebratory bunch. The Sakoian love for music and dance can be easily seen illustrated on the city streets as musicians often make a viable living playing their instruments for donations on the city streets.
Geography and Climate
Sakril's relative location to the coastline and the bordering of the sea of storms makes for some unusual weather compared to other desert towns. Storms taking place off-coast often crash waves into the city shoreline and storms brewing close to home make for some humid rain every few weeks. Yet the hot temperature and rain-shadow from the northern mountains makes it near impossible for the city to keep the desert, and especially the city of Sakril, moist enough for much growth. However the religion of Sa dictates that this is how it should be. Perfect Balance of life and death is important to the Sakoians.
