Rilper is easily one of the most hellish places to live in all of Aryiure. It is said that before the village was set up around the mining colony here that many civilizations before had placed towns here as well. All that seems left now are the destroyed ruins of many generations of miners just like those who now populate the silver mines here. Some use this as an example to ward against greed, others say the mines and the land around them are haunted by their former inhabitants, and others yet still believe that an evil cult has cursed this land. Whatever the reason, the gems within the mines and the great resources they provide guise the inhabitants of Rilper to stay, but many wonder if history will still repeat itself.
Village Life
Life within this mining colony is not easy. Constant collapses within the mines and arid, dry weather allow for little to no life to exist within this near abandoned place. All that remain are the miners dedicated enough to make a profit off of the riches underneath, or the archeologists and scholarly types who come to study the ruins scattered around themselves. It seems as if the ruins all point to each town built here all ending in some tragic and almost apocalyptic manner. Crater-holes in the ground and newly discovered drawings depicting great wars of the past as well as clues into the great sundering.
The water imported from Queur is barely enough for 1/5 of the population living here at any given time, making it even more difficult to live than before, as many literally walk miles just to gather water for their families to drink for the week.
Geography and Climate
Rilper is arid, rocky, and dry. The only thing parting the jagged rocks of this barren space are ancient crater holes in which seem to remain after many years, looming ominously into the rock as some sort of warning. Those that live here do so only to obtain the riches lying under the earth. Constant sandstorms battering the area, almost unbreathable dry air, and a constant struggle with providing necessities for the inhabitants are all some of the reasons many people choose to avoid this spot save for when necessary.
