  Creation Myth

From there he took a single cloud of cosmic gas and split it into thousands of fragments to work with. The largest of these he molded into a world. With the next piece he created the moon and placed it over the world. The sun over the world would be the radiance of his divine light. The remaining pieces were then used to fashion the oceans, the seas, the forests, the mountains, the soil, the air and all that the world would need to sustain life. He glanced down upon the world he had created and the beauties in what he had created caused him to cry for joy. His tears fell upon the newly created world and formed the holy lands. From his tears, Edalirin placed a single tear in the heavens to remind all who would see it of the beauty in creation. This world was his greatest masterpiece.

But the world seemed barren and wanton. It needed life. Edalirin glanced upon the ground in which his tears had fallen. This would be where all life would spring forth. With Edalirin's breath life was thus created unto to it. The world would teem with a variety of life from the smallest of insects to the largest of mammals. Edalirin had completed the work of his new world. I shall name you Adellion (which means Life in Sakoian).

As time passed, Adellion grew and flourished. Life was abundant and the world was at harmony. Life grew rampant. One day, Edalirin glanced upon Adellion and realized Adellion had too much life. There was so much life and nothing ever died. This was not balance or order. Harmony was at stake. At this time, Edalirin reached into himself and pulled out a small part of himself. This part he fashioned into a son and named him Yealath. He would help him in controlling the life on the world of Adellion. Yealath would become the God of Death. Adellion learned of death that day. Everywhere Yealath, the God of Death passed, life died. After a few moments, Adellion had lost half of the life on its surface. This pleased Edalirin because now more life would flourish in the passing of old life. The world could now evolve further. He was very proud of his son. Yealath, God of Death would remain and help him watch over Adellion. Yealath's responsibility would be to harvest the elderly or the dying and help them to be reborn into new life.

All was in harmony for a time. Edalirin watched over his son and the world he had created. One day, Edalirin noticed his son was crying. Walking over to him and placing a hand upon his shoulder, Edalirin asked, "Why art thee crying my son?"

"Father, it is very lonely in the world. All of this life and I can never touch it. You are the only one I have to spend time with father. You are often times busy here or there creating life. I only get to touch it with it's passing."

Edalirin reflected upon what his son had said. His son was correct. He could never again touch what lived because to touch it, meant death. His son needed brothers. His brothers would help him forget the pains of life. With this, Edalirin reached upon Adellion and broke a piece of the tallest mountain. He shaped this into his likeness and named him Cirath, God of the Mountains. Cirath would be the mountains themselves. With a mighty hand, Cirath, God of the Mountains reached into the world of Adellion and raised the mountains to the heavens. This he offered to Yealath for his amusement. Yealath was still upset.

Reaching into soil next, Edalirin grabbed a handful of soil. With this, he again fashioned it into a likeness of himself. This one he named Velind, God of Sands and Soils. He would create the soils that all walked on. Velind looked down upon Adellion and with a mighty breath, covered part of the land in his sands. Once he had done this, he turned the soil yellow so all might see his power for generations to come. He would keep Yealath happy in his giant sandbox.

But Yealath was still sad. Edalirin looked upon his son and seeing for the first time the pain he bore, Edalirin felt compassion for his son. With his hand, he reached into Yealath and pulled from him the pain he was bearing. He fashioned this into a likeness and named it Asin, Goddess of Pain. Asin would be all the pain Yealath had ever felt. Asin would help Yealath to forget the pains of life. Yealath could no longer feel pain or suffering.

This made Yealath extremely happy. His father had given him three new friends to play with. His friends could not be affected by his touch because they were gods like him. So they could never die. This brought great joy to Yealath. Soon after, all four were seen playing about on the world of Adellion. The world of Adellion was once again at harmony.

Many suns and moons passed. Life was at peace and harmony on Adellion. However, Edalirin wasn't. He didn't feel harmony this day. In fact he felt a great pain in his chest. He cried out. His children raced over to him as quickly as the winds. Yealath looked upon his father and saw only death. His father was dying. Velind looked upon him and saw a dirtiness that was moving through his body. His father had impurities that must be removed to clean him. When Asin looked upon her father and saw pain, she reached into Edalirin and pulled with all of her might. After a few moments the pain in Edalirin's chest was pulled free. The pain Edalirin had been experiencing subsided. In the palm of Asin's hand she held a likeness of Edalirin. Edalirin smiled warmly at his daughter for she had created life from the pain he bore. This life would be named Qiathiel, Goddess of Evil.

As Qiathiel moved about the world of Adellion, the world of Adellion learned of evil and lies. Edalirin noticed that Qiathiel was being evil by saving everything and preventing it from dying. When asked about this, Qiathiel told Edalirin that all life should never die. Edalirin knew Qiathiel was lying to him for Qiathiel was the Goddess of Evil, the teller of lies and falsehoods. This lie of immortality that Qiathiel offered upset the harmony of the world. The circle of life must never be interrupted. Edalirin told his daughter that life must die so that it could be reborn once again. The circle of life allowed Adellion to evolve. Because of Qiathiel's lies, Adellion fell into a circle of chaos. The world of Adellion trembled under the weight of the lies Qiathiel had spewed upon it. It was during this time using the knowledge of creation given to all gods; Qiathiel began to create gods from herself and give them god-like powers.

Edalirin quickly moved to stop Qiathiel from what she was doing. But it was too late. Qiathiel had already created a total of four gods. These she named - Ethelle; Goddess of Birth, Ybobaen; God of the Forests, Glaewen; Goddess of the Harvests and Chelad; God of Water. These were shown to the life on Adellion. As the people of Adellion begin to worship them, they grew in power. Edalirin could not undo what his daughter had done, so he cast down Qiathiel and her ways. Qiathiel was then banished from the holy lands.

Edalirin wept once more. He had given the world of Adellion the freedom of choice. Qiathiel had perverted that choice with his lies. Edalirin knew this and wept bitterly over it. Edalirin continued to watch as Qiathiel attempted to thwart the circle of life Edalirin and his children had worked so hard to keep going. Now the world of Adellion had a variety of gods to follow.

Now the world truly had order and chaos.
