The small but adequate fishing and trading village of Queur serves as both a stopping point for traders going to Verem or even deeper all the way to Sakril. Fishermen are allowed to freely fish the open resources near the rivers here and the water here is often exported to Rilper for the villagers there to use as needed. Life here remains simple however, save from the usual taunting from other desert villages and cities whom of which some don’t consider Queur to be a truly ‘desert’ town at all.
The lush grasses nearby and the many animals roaming the outskirts of the river makes it difficult to indeed to believe this town belongs in any way to an empire of desert dwellers. Houses of the town are made partially of wood and the town is often frowned upon because of its constant struggle against the harsh wilderness protection acts in the empire. The city itself has no problems with a shortage on wildlife and falls into a strict grey area here, often causing political and ethical controversy, as well as religious accusations.
Village life
Fishermen line the rivers and hunters often forage the nearby forested areas. Everything from farmers, to fisherman, to smithies and crafters can be found within this small town. The most popular position of which is the trader, whom of which many come and go daily. Whether they are heading north to trade goods within Tarian lands or west through the great desert, Queur is a town to see. A makeshift marketplace resides in the center of the town and many trade here, before moving on to larger cities in order to get funding to continue their trips.
Regardless of whether Queur is well liked by the empire, they are indeed well protected. They are both the farthest settlement from the capital city as well as the closest to the border of the empire. This makes them dangerous in many folks’ eyes because of the problems with border colonies and villages in the past. The military regiment that stays within a short distance of the village but many find themselves more complacent after staying here for a while. The people of the town are more than merely hospitable to the soldiers and never once has a conflict here arisen as such.
Geography and climate
The village of Queur is situated in lush green fields between rivers, and is a very pleasant place to live in general. It is one of the only desert towns to get regular rainstorms and oftentimes even floods.
The abundance of water is put to great use here, as the town exports large amounts of water into the desert for the village folk to use. The water is even given to the nomadic families that live within the desert. The town itself bares witness to little in the way of natural disasters save for the occasional flooding of the rivers, which can sometimes damage both crops and houses.
