"Formation of the Wellay, and the growing empire" - After the founding of the mighty capital city of Sakril, it was obvious the people would need protection from those who wished to sway the will of Edalirin and Surric. Surric devised the creation of the guardian clan, or Wellay. New tactics were created and a unified system of military protection was formed. Time passed as the ranks of the Wellay swelled and the tactics of training grew more and more complex.
Argon’s of the time were limited in communication, and with only one single Gejwan (clan, or brigade) to protect the whole of the ever expanding empire, soon problems arose within the Wellay. Strict training methods were then in place and the Argons training the troops didn’t want to change their training methods to account for the expanding need for communication and efficiency in the growing empire.
"The Ehjwan" - Following the breakdown of the Wellay training methods, the morale of soldiers after trying countless times in despair to defend eastern villages from desert raiders was extremely low. Civilian armies formed in the east, do what they thought the Wellay had failed to do. Eventually Surric decided on forming the Ehjwan, a new military Gejwan which would allow adequate protection in the east while remaining self sufficient from the Wellay.
Ehjwan literally translates into “Second Clan”, which is indeed what it was. The second fighting force formed was stationed in a barracks near the eastern rivers and the clan was formally trained. Ever since the Ehjwan have been considered by both the military and Sakoian people alike as “Zenith Ersh Eyans” or Soldiers of the holy People. The Ehjwan has had an incredible track record of both successful offensive and defensive actions since their formation.
"The Nejohl" - Following the Sakoian Empire’s constant expanse eastward, many priests of the land wished to tighten the bond the eastern villagers and townsfolk have with Edalirin. The city of Verem was founded and a personal town guard was established to protect those Priests most important to the Sakoian empire, and to defend the Religious castes new training school from raiders based in the northern mountains.
The public accepted such an action and soon the ranks of the Nejohl overflowed with volunteers eager to defend those who speak the word of Edalirin from harm. The numbers grew more and more each day and soon three barracks’ were established outside the city. As time passed the Nejohl became less and less of a town Sarn unit, and more and more of a military unit. After quite some time making the transition it was declared the role of the Nejohl shall indeed be to protect the mountainous north from possible invaders, and to defend the northern cities.
Although their equipment is quite meager compared to both the Ehjwan and Wellay clans, the Nejohl have a long history of being able to perform in the high mountains and cliffsides with little to no equipment save for their sword, pike, and food. They are led most of the time by a warrior priest Argon chosen by the religious caste themselves, and trained by the Warrior caste to lead. The Wellay and the Nejohl have a long-standing feud and it is not uncommon for these Clans to attempt to amuse themselves by playing various practical jokes against each other. Over the years the two clans have been rivaling, they have always tried to gather a more impressive record then the next, or try many other means to prove their worth to Surric. While he has always been disgruntled by his soldiers’ rival attitudes towards each other, Surric has always promoted such actions by holding regular competitions to truly see which of the clans has the more adept soldiers.
"The Selue, Mercenaries both close and Afar" - Highly feared amongst the enemies of Surric. The Ehjwan is the primary offensive land force in the Sakoian lands. Their soldiers are not rag tag soldiers and don’t have a lot of brotherly love amongst each other. The Ehjwan men are quick to anger and difficult to calm down, and it doesn’t take much for a charismatic general or captain to gear them up for battle. Appearing en masse on the battlefield often out of nowhere and attacking with the ferocity of wild animals, the Ehjwan enjoy leveling the battlefield and have been taught to do so since birth. At a very young age these highly skilled soldiers are taught the most cruel and fearsome tactics from highly trained and experienced trainers. The Ehjwan are highly formidable and very stealthy as well. Their beliefs in military protocol are unheard of and the only reason a prisoner would be caught and brung before one of their Commanders would be to torture information out of them before having them beheaded. Beware of this clan is all one could say for the nervous onlookers, but by the time you see them its probably too late.
