  The Village of Achersul

Situated near a large oasis in the middle of the desert. Achersul was made famous by the great ‘singing soldiers’ and the mythical story behind the great dunes. It was said that one day, during a massive invasion by an outside army, the sands themselves swallowed the army attacking Achersul. The legend says it was the sands themselves that saved the village from utter destruction, and that the whistling that comes from the sand during heavy winds is the voice of those soldiers, singing in lament over their scorned failure.

Village Life

The oasis to the east makes simple farming available to many, but strict laws protecting wildlife are enforced here even more-so than the rest of the desert towns and villages. Most all professions and social archetypes can be found within Achersul, but the people look down on those who hunt game or gather resources from the wild. There are two churches within Achersul, which makes for a variance of religious community members here. The temple of Edalirin sits as a place of worship for the common Sakoian citizens, but as homage they also have a temple of Velind whom was supposedly whom created the singing sands and saved Achersul from the invasion of the enemy army so many years ago.

Climate and Geography

Achersul is arid and dry for the most part. The nearby oasis gives it the water and moisture it needs for farming and the well made by the townspeople provide them with just enough water to survive on. Surplus is left in the well as the water is greatly revered here in the harsh desert lands.
