A new Adellion Devchat is scheduled at 11pm GMT (6pm EST, 3pm PST) on Friday, April 30 2004.
As always, it will be held in #AdHoC on the Stratics IRC Network. You can discuss the questions that you wish to ask right here
To connect to Stratics IRC, first boot up your favorite IRC client. (Two of the most popular clients are mIRC and Pirch.)
Once your client has been started, access one of the follow Stratics servers by typing /server irc.stratics.com:
irc.frws.com - USA - Colorado
irc2.frws.com - USA - Colorado
irc.glowfish.de - EU - Germany
Or, feel free to use Stratics Java client via your web browser. You can access the Java client via the lefthand menubar of the ad.stratics website. The client connects directly to the Stratics Servers and even allows you to select which channel you wish to access upon startup.
The Adellion Staff team is looking forward to speaking with you all and answering your question about Adellion.

And for those who require extra guidance...
Stratics Java Step-by-Step
1. Browse to http://chat.stratics.com/content/java/chat.php?size=800
2. If you get any security warnings, click on "Yes" or "Agree"
3. Type in your nickname in the Nickname box
4. Enter "#adellion" (without the quotes) into the Channel box
5. Choose "irc.stratics.com" as your "Server Name"
6. Ensure the "Server Port" is listed as 6667
7. Click on "Connect Now"
Once you are connected, you will be in the unmoderated #adellion chat channel. Should you wish to then join the Adellion House of Commons chat room, then type "/join #AdHoC" (without the quotes). Please note that the Stratics Java Chat does not allow you to be in two rooms at once.
mIRC (v6.x) Step-by-Step
1. Open up mIRC (which you can download from http://www.mirc.co.uk/). When prompted, click on the "Continue" button.
2. Click on the star button next to the "Connect to Server" option
3. Click on "Add"
4. Enter a label in Description (e.g. Stratics)
5. Enter "irc.stratics.com" (without the quotes) into "IRC Server"
6. Click on the "Add" button
7. You should now see the server listed and selected in the dropdown. Click on the star button next to the "Connect to Server" option.
8. Enter your nickname in the "Nickname" box and an alternative nickname in the "Alternative" box. The "Full Name" and "Email Address" boxes also need filling in, but do not require real details.
9. Click on "Connect to Server"
10. If this is your first time using mIRC a panel will open up asking which channel you wish to join. Enter "#adellion" (without the quotes) to the top box, then click on the upper-most "Join" button.
You will now be in the unmoderated #adellion chat channel. Should you wish to then join the Adellion House of Commons chat room, then type "/join #AdHoC" (without the quotes). With mIRC you can chat simultaneously in both rooms - allowing you to watch a HoC and discuss it with fellow fans at the same time.

11pm GMT on a friday?
I'll try my best to make that and see what goes on, although even if I do there's no guarantee I'll be able to focus...
Thanks for the technical guidance, I'll be there, likely.

Hail all once again...it's been a while..sorry.
Here is the link to my Adellion Dev mIRC Chat Tutorial:

You know, I hate when I commit to some online project....because when I do, something always comes up keeping me from executing my promises.
It never fails...just ask the other members of Order Swordbrüden. I say I will be online to help and BAMMM!...something in Real Life takes me away from the online worlds.
Same thing happened with this tutorial. I wanted to post it 8 days ago..but just now got the time to complete it. I know, only 4 days until the Dev. chat...well, it's better than nothing.
And by the way, YES! I would like some cheese and crackers with my WHINE!

Quick question,
Is there a specific focus for this DevChat? Or is more general Q&A?

General Q&A. Hope to see you there, Hobart. :)

So, where can I find the log of the Devchat? I hope someone has kept one for those that weren't able to attend due to substantial time differences.

I think there is none, cuz the devchat didn't happen.
At least that is the Stratics side of it.
If they would have known they would up announcements and put the log afterwards on it.

We had a nice chat, but I was a little late and did not think to make a copy of the chat afterwards :(

There was some miscommunication between Stratics and Alchemic Dream, no one's fault just one of those things that happens sometimes. So we had a great chat with the fans and hope to schedule another HoC in the near future.
Please feel free to ask questions here.

Pardon me for saying what I'm thinking here, but a devchat is an accepted way to let the fans get an update on where the game is in the dev cycle, and to ask relevant questions to the actual dev team. No offence meant Teila but I'd prefer to here it from the specialists themselves :)
It is normal practice to supply an editted transcript of the chat for fans who weren't there to be informed. Almost all games these days have a history of dev chats someplace on their sites so that anyone can read the evolution of the game from the developers of that game.
I would hope someone has kept a log and can supply it for prosterity sake.
I just hope we actually learn from our mistakes.

Roo, I am on the development team. I design the landscape, do the beta tester applications, create artwork and lore. I am not a programmer but I am involved in the design process. No offense taken....but what you get from me is pretty much straight from the mouth of the programmers and the rest of the team. BTW, the programmers and artists were also at the chat yesterday, not just the lore folks.

Hrmm...seems to be going along well.

Huh. This chat was before my time (which started about an hour ago). I hope to get into this stuff. I just wanted to thank somebody for a step-by-step IRC aid. As I've never been able to get information on what one actually does to get into things! Thank you very much.
Regards, Sinister.
