I know many of you link directly to the forums, but there is a wonderful update on the front page of this website. It's a sneak preview of the much anticipated larger update coming in two weeks. :)
This update includes screenshots of the alpha testing as well as some pictures of a few character avatars. Please check it out here. (http://www.adellion.com/)
Please post any reactions here. I am sure our hard working techinal folks would love to hear from you.
Very nice! I have to rush off and will provide more comments later. For now I have just three words about this update:
I want more!

And you will get more! Be patient for two more weeks. ;)

Hey the game looks great so far- the character models are excellent. I am also very happy that progress is moving along nicely. The all volunteer Adellion team should be proud of themselves. Adellion will certainly fill in a much needed 'niche' to the rather boring and seemingly pointless MMORPG market. I am sure roleplayers will unite behind this game. Good work guys and gals :)

Si. Hats off to the slaves of HonourBound. I didn't acctually expect it to be that attractive. Well done!

Oh it's almost finished for me then...
An abandoned mill, some players who can play the angry mob. Al we need now is torches and hayforks oh and an outcast to chase.
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
The screenshots are a bit dark but it looks alright sofar.
*Gryvix hands every Dev a twinkie*
Lemme see critics:
David: What does wonce mean, you meant Wonka? :P
The water is bright as opposite to the rest that is dark. The trees look a bit funny, things sticking out? Are they the same as the ones Bendik once made with that random thing so that every tree is different? The terrain and the objects don't fit together too well, a bit like in (older)cartoons where you can see what is gonna move and what stays as background. But it still need stuff on it like grass and such, no? So that'll get better.
Lemme see something else I can nag about...nothing much...
Time for some good things then :(
The rain looks nice. The blending is nice as you look at things further away. the buildinings look fine... The characters are pretty.
Looks nice, but I agree with gryvix on the water issue.
What I really like is the GUI - there was some preview in the past i didnt like but this one looks great.
As for the models, do you plan to have special NPC models? Id just use the same models as for players, why not?
Oh yea, and thx Teila for posting this here, I wouldnt have seen it otherwise!
I also agree about the water being too bright, especially given it's an overcast day. But all in all, it looks better than what I would have expected from a volunteer team. The player character model looks very authentic. Great job so far!

You are right but that's corrected. As for the models they simply rock. I play everyday and I use the women model, so pretty and the new animation is just too real. :D The artists have done a wonderful job.
But it still need stuff on it like grass and such, no?
The screenshot does not show any grass, but there is a field of grass, small plants, etc... Just it's not on the part where pics where taken. There is also a pond with water plants, bugs swarm that buzz around etc..
The screenshots are a bit dark
Well that's suppose to be a dark day with rain, clouds, storm, lightning.

The water is not yet textured. This is not what you will see in the game.
The trees are placeholders, not Bendik's trees. There is grass in other parts of the alpha as well as a nice swamp.
Remember, this is the first stages of alpha. Things will change dramatically before release.

I remember way back when Bendik posted a little on the message boards. Is he actively working on the game now? He's listed as inactive in the staff page.
He had some innovative ideas on plant growth, can you say anything about whether or not any of that made it into the game plans?
Teila

Yes, the plan is for Bendik's stuff to be in the game at this time.

Now we just need a wooden spoon for that female avatar, along with a kitchen, and I'll be set :D
Very nice, a lot more than i was expeciting in the Alpha... And some decent rain (not seen very much of that here in Australia)
Can we get screenshots for each area, or is it just this area at moment?
(as usual you give us a lot, and we always want more!)

From the news update:
While the town and the terrain does not exactly match our final design for this area, the test level contains a large number of the features of the running game we plan to incorporate. Players could run freely in and out of the buildings, climb stairs, and chat with each other.
Does this mean that the development has shifted from making each house/building's interior a seperate 'world' that people entered, to making all interiors part of the environment?
I recall a developer stating in the past that the former had to be done due to engine limitations.

There is a bit more but not a very big area at all yet. More will be added later. :)

Yes, the game looks great. The pictures really drew me in. It looks awsome I can't believe this is Alpha. Can we have some pics of the armor that we will be able to wear and maybe some weapons please. Thank you. The characters really look like the look of my character in my mind. The game looks very confortable at this point. And the clouds are cool.

Just wanted to say that I dig the screenshots. The face shots give me hope that Adellion won't too "low budget." The graphics work for me. Of course, you know we're going to want a bunch of movies next time, right? ;)

Thank you, thank you, thank you... I now have renewed faith in this game. After blindly defending this game to a friend, I now feel I have something solid to base my dedication on. Following Adellion for so long, it is a great pleasure to see such an advancement made. It may still be awhile before the finished product, but it is very good to see how it is all maturing...

I am glad, Grendel. And we have much more to show you in the near future as well. We had to get the foundation stable first and now we add all the pretty things you all want to see so badly. :)

very nice. (and graphics isn't that important...)
finally i can see light at the end of the dark tunnel. :D
Kudos! The hands on that avatar are stunning. Very few screenshots have been released, so these have definitely taken me by surprise.

whoo nice sunset screen shots. The sun is breath taking. The only thing I find bad is that in one of the pictures there are three fences and each one is exactly the same and positioned in exactly the same direction. Its something that caught my eye and since none of them are connected I thought it looked wrong. Otherwise its awesome and I can't wait to see more.

It's alpha...things will change.
The first pic reminds me of a survival-horror type thing... somethings sooo gonna jump out as soon as that sun goes down!

Very sweet, I really like how the light actually is mixed with the ground and sky.
Great job on the grass looks great. I almost felt like I was in the game. Very nice.

i think that the graficks are amazing if only i was 13 i could beta test it :(
3 year old kid
04-09-2005, 09:06 PM
lol im sure by beta test when everything is changed you'l a) be 13 or b) they won't care what age you are. I think the 13 age thing only applies now because it requires them to be in strick contact with you and the privacy policy. Usualy by beta ppl don't care how old you are.

Looking very good.. Great work, you've made alot of progress. I may be able to be in the beta test, that is, if I'm allowed. ;)
I didn't know there was a minimum age limit!? Good point though...
I'd love to beta test; but I don't think random posts about wanting to would help anyone...

The new interface looks real nice. Kind of oldish wooden look that
suits real well for a roleplaying game.
I see there is a notice board! Hope there will be books too.
The only thing that puts off is the chat box. I so like the UO overhead
chat. Instead of watching som box on the corner of the screen you can watch
at the characters while talking.

hmm I never thought about that. I think the chat box is ok. If you made it so text appeared over someone's head or without a chat box, people could easily miss information. Another thing is that I'm surprised that none of the buttons have names or keys. It looks very clean and if the devs can make an interface text free with the exception of chat, that would be awesome.

That's our goal. At least the game gui is text free but other menu like character customisation, settings, game menu etc... contains texts.

Actually that is not a problem. If you dont see the character the text is shown on the chat box. So you dont miss it.
Shadowbane had overhead text and chat box. Together they work real well. I always used the overhead text and never had a problem with it.

WOW! I love all the graphics! They are all awesome looking and I can't wait for the game to come out! I was so excited for the game when I just was reading the history but now that I have seen the graphics I want it even more. And you say the graphics will be better than that? *dies* I NEED ADELLION NOW! :D

Hey everyone, I havnt been on here in a long time. Last time i was here was sometime in August of last year. Screen shots look great and the interface system sounds/looks very good. I cant wait to either try it and/or buy it. I hope everything goes great for the development team and everyone else working on the project. Good work.
